Reina Tanaka-Singer Of The Band Lovendor

So as I promised, here is a look at the life and career of Reina Tanaka, a rock singer for the band called Lovendor. I know that it is strange for some people to visualize Tanaka being a member of a rock band. Tanaka Reina was one of the longest-serving members of the girl group Morning Musume. She was a member of the group from 2003 through 2013. Tanaka graduated from Morning Musume on May 21, 2013.

She passed the audition for the group’s 6th generation and started her work with Eri Kamei, Sayumi Michishige, and Miki Fujimoto (now Shoji). In July 2003, she made her debut with the group’s 19th single called Shabondama. She provided main vocals for that song. The next two years would be very busy for Tanaka. She was chosen to be the leader of a unit called Aa! along with Miyabi Natsuyaki (Berryz Kobo) and Airi Suzuki (C-ute). The group would not be active for very long. They released only one single called FIRST KISS in October 2003. In 2004, she was featured on two solo versions of the song called Memory Seishun no Hikari. Her first album as a member of Morning Musume was Ai no  Dai 6Kan. The group split into two other groups. These were Morning Musume Otome Gumi and Morning Musume Sakura Gumi. Tanaka was put in Otome Gumi.

In 2008, Tanaka became a member of the unit called High-King. The unit was formed to promote the musical called Cinderella. In 2011, she would star in a play called Reborn Inochi no Audition. Joining her in this play was Risa Niigaki, the 9th generation, and Haruka Kudo.  On December 23 of that year, Tanaka would attend a Christmas dinner show with Michishige at Prince Hotels. Tanaka would star in another stage play called Stacy’s Shouju Saisatsu Kageki from June 6th through the 12th. On July 27th and 28th 2013, Tanaka with her Lovendor band mates did a performance at the 2013 J-POP Summit Festival in San Francisco.

Reina Tanaka moves on from Morning Musume

With the announcement of Risa Niigaki graduating in May 2012 that created big news and shocked her fans, Morning Musume fans have had to deal with another member that has graduated from her activities with the group. Reina Tanaka, a sixth generation member of the group since 2003 announced her decision to graduate on May 21, 2013.  I know that this is old news but it is still newsworthy.

Reina Tanaka is on stage during the day of her graduation on May 21, 2013. She is one happy person! She served for 10 years as a member of Morning Musume.

She wants to now focus on her band Lovendor. Any Morning Musume member that graduates or leaves the group seems to make news. It was also announced that Mizuki Fukumura and Haruna Iikubo will both be the sub-leaders of Morning Musume. On January 19, 2013, Reina and current Morning Musume leader Sayumi Michishige who calls herself the cutest member of Morning Musume both celebrated their 10 year anniversary with the group.

But this has been a challenging year for Tanaka so far as she has had to deal with some health issues. She revealed in her blog in February that she had come down with a duodenal ulcer and esophagitis. She said that she would be taking medicines and requiring surgery to heal herself. On March 23, she had experienced a painful ringing in her ears and the next day, she was forced to miss a concert. Her own band had to do without her. But Reina has recovered and I am sure she is excited about this next phase of her career. Reina Tanaka was born on November 11, 1989 in Fukuoka, Japan. Reina Tanaka is also no longer associated with the label Hello! Project. The motto that Reina lives by is “If you’re allowed to be yourself, you won’t do bad things to people. Don’t do things to people that you wouldn’t want for people to do to you.” Source: http://www.generasia.com/wiki/Tanaka_Reina.

Note: there will be a post about this 6th generation member coming up soon as it is now 2017.
